April 2, 2020

Dear Antelope Valley High School Students and Parents,

As a follow up to our superintendent Dr. Vierra's message, we will extend the physical closure of our schools through the end of the academic year. While we remain physically apart, Antelope Valley High School will continue to provide distance learning and support services for all our students through June 4, 2020.

My heart breaks for all of the Antelope Valley High School community, especially for our Seniors, the Class of 2020. We know you are concerned about missing out on momentous life experiences and memories. We are committed to pursuing alternative ways to honor and celebrate our graduates.

The Lope Cafeteria Team will continue to serve grab-and-go meals Monday through Friday in the stadium parking lot from 10:30 to 12:30pm.

AV remains dedicated to ensuring our students maintain continuity of their education through distance learning. Today, AV checked out close to 450 Chromebooks in the stadium parking lot. Friday, we will continue to check out Chromebooks to our 9th and 10th grade students along with the upperclassman who were not able to check one out today.

Technology Agreement

At AVHS we are doing our best to support students in distance learning by providing them with technology. Due to COVID-19 we are trying to limit person-to-person contact. With that being said, we will distribute Chromebooks via a drive-thru style set up in the stadium lot. Please see our website for checkout times. During check out, you will show your student ID and you will then be given a Chromebook to check out and a form that explains your responsibilities for the device.

Chromebook Distribution - Dates

Good Evening AV High School

Today we held a very successful virtual staff meeting with our entire staff. We are ready to embark on this new journey and fully support your students. With that being said, beginning Thursday, April 2 we will begin distributing Chromebooks to assist students without access to technology.

Due to the limited number of devices, we ask that only those families without a computer check out a device. At this time, we will only be distributing one device per family. We have prioritized device check-out to start with seniors, followed by juniors, then sophomores and freshmen.

Technology will be distributed in a “drive-thru” set up in our stadium parking lot.  Students will need to present their school ID in order to check out a device.
