RETURN TO SCHOOL NEWSLETTER - APRIL 2021 (SPANISH)

Dear AVHS Parents and Students,

As you know, students will have the opportunity to return to on-campus, in-person instruction beginning on Monday, April 12th. If you did not complete the return to campus form and want your student to return to campus, information will be sent early next week on how to complete that process. Please check your email for important updates and information.

• If you DID NOT complete the survey, and wish to complete the school year on Distance Learning, you do not need to do anything and your student will remain on Distance Learning.

• Only students who completed the Return to Campus Survey will attend in-person instruction on campus.

• For those who completed the survey and are planning to return to campus the Schedule is as follows:

• Students whose last name begins with A - K will be on campus on Mondays and Tuesdays, and at home on Distance Learning Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

• Students whose last names begin with L - Z will be at home on Distance Learning Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and on campus on Thursday and Friday.

• You may come to campus ONLY on your scheduled days of attendance.

• DO NOT come to campus unless you received a confirmation phone message and email. Additional information will be sent to you as it becomes available. Please check your phone messages and email for these updates. We are looking forward to your student(s) returning to campus.

2021 Q4 Work Permit Information

Work Experience and Work Permits
Mrs. Coleman-Levy, Work Experience Coordinator

Students currently working or considering getting a job during the State
of California current “COVID-19 Health Orders” and Distance Learning
need to know:
1. All students under the age of 18 need a work permit to work. Yes,
even during summer and winter breaks. The only exception is a
graduated senior under 18 with a High School Diploma or a Certificate of Proficiency.


2. Students need a 2.0 and no F grades from Quarter 3 to qualify for a
work permit. Students also need to maintain a 2.0 GPA and no F grades throughout Semester 2.
3. Students cannot work during school hours.

4. Attendance to online classes are a requirement. If a student misses any two classes more than seven times, their work permit will be put on probation and subjected to being revoked.

Procedure for Students who need a work permit

1. The work you choose needs to be for a "business legally able to operate" based on current local and/or state health orders. *

2. Fill out the B1-1 (Request for a Work Permit form), your social security number, parent and employer signatures are needed to process the permit.

3. After the B1-1 is completed the student will email Mrs. Coleman-Levy, Work Experience Coordinator at jcoleman@avhsd.org using their school email address to set up an appointment to process the permit.

AVUHSD - 1st Ever Live Virtual Talent Show!!

The Antelope Valley Union High School District is proud to announce it's first ever Live Virtual Talent Show. This event will take place on Friday night (2/26) at 7pm on YouTube Live. Make sure you log on early so you don't miss the show. 


Mr. and Mrs. Zanon and Lisa Schmidt will be your hosts for the evening - you won't want to miss it. At the end of the show, a 5 minute voting window will be open so that you can vote on your favorite contestants as many times as you want - remember your votes count and your votes will pick the top 5 contestants who make it to the Final Judges Round. Our Final Judges Round will then select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place - our final judges are Board President, Ms. Jill McGrady, Vice Principal, Mr. Aaron Foley, and theater manager/studio owner, Mrs. Alice McGreevy-Cowan.
