3rd Annual Spring Break Army Bootcamp Completed

Congratulations to our more than 100 students who completed the Army Boot Camp event held at Antelope Valley High School this week. We commend you for spending your Spring Break trying new things and looking toward the future! The students slept in tents, participated in military physical training and competitions, team building, and life saving training. Yesterday, our Boot Camp participants proudly ran down Lancaster Blvd. to showcase their efforts. Special thanks to our staff, US Army partners and volunteers who made this event possible! #AVHS #USArmy #AVFindYourPath

Annual Independent City Event a Success

Earlier this month, AVUHSD hosted its annual Independent City event where foster youth are able to prepare for adulthood and emancipation. The students are placed in a simulated city environment where they adopt a persona and conduct personal business at locations such as a bank, county office or DMV. They also are asked to make purchases such as buying a car. At the end of the event, our students are better positioned to become independent and enter adulthood. The students also heard from a motivating speaker and had a chance to win hundreds of dollars in prizes including gift cards and a laptop. We would like to thank all the staff, volunteers, and local organizations for making this event possible. We also thank our students for participating and investing in their futures!
