Science

AVHS Science Department -

Science is defined as: the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. In other words, science is a body of knowledge and a way to explain our the world around us. To help students understand the different methods scientists use to think and talk about the subject, every student at AVHS is encouraged to enroll in a science course each of their four years. It is encouraged for ambitious students to take more than the required two lab science courses required to graduate, and explore the many science options made available to AVHS students. We hope you find the discovery of science worthy of your time.

A typical pathway through high school science courses begins with the traditional sequence of biology, chemistry, and physics. You may branch out to the electives and AP courses as you become an upperclassman.
