Academic Eligibility Requirements

Academic Eligibility Requirements

Students must show steady academic progress to represent Antelope Valley High School in student leadership, extracurricular activities, and interscholastic athletics. The guidelines below summarize district policy.

Grade Point Average

Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the preceding grading period. Grades from every enrolled course count toward eligibility. Incoming freshmen have the first quarter as a probationary period.

Course Load

Remain enrolled in and passing at least four courses each grading period. Only one of those classes may be physical education.

Credit Completion

Pass a minimum of 20 credits with a 2.0 GPA during the previous grading period to stay on track for graduation.

Progress Reviews

Eligibility updates coincide with report periods: first quarter, first semester, third quarter, and second semester.

Citizenship Expectations

Students must maintain satisfactory citizenship marks. Three or more unsatisfactory citizenship grades in the previous grading period result in ineligibility.

Role Model Standards

Participants are expected to model courtesy, clean language, appropriate dress, honesty, and respect toward others. The principal may remove a student from activities if behavior falls short of district standards.

Attendance Requirements

Students must attend a minimum school day (240 minutes) on the date of the event to compete or perform. Suspended students are ineligible until the suspension ends.
